The Squidly Store and I previously worked together, when I helped create their storefront mural and permanent window signage. They reached out to me again to create multiple merchandise designs for their 1 Year Anniversary. Each piece was meticulously crafted to embody the quirky and unique personality of Squidly Store.
Custom Sticker Design
The sticker design takes inspiration from the eye-catching robot squid featured on the storefront mural.
Unlike the mural, this sticker possesses an uninterrupted design, showcasing all six legs in a captivating circular flow. Rotating the head adds a touch of symmetry, making it a self-contained sticker design.
Custom Shirt Design
The circular sticker design is featured on the shirt because circular designs work best for shirts. The client requested the shirt have the text “Squidly Store”, “1 Year Anniversary”, in the distinctive Groovy Script front. After experimenting, we found that Stomping Ground font paired better with the image. "1 Year Anniversary" text was transformed into "Albuquerque, NM". The playful arrangement of "Squidly Store" letters in a shaky semi-circle pattern adds a whimsical touch to the shirt design.
Custom Postcard Design
Generally, postcards have a specific tourist attraction on them examples include the Eiffel Tower in Paris or the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. Illustrating the store on the postcard turns the Squidly Store into a tourist destination. Highlighting the physical location of the store, the postcard front showcases the Squidly Store, inviting recipients to explore this unique gift shop in Albuquerque, NM. The back seamlessly ties in with the front, featuring ink elements for a cohesive look.
Custom Mug Design
The mural design was used for the mug design. Complete with the additional legs that were originally cut off in the mural, this design wraps around the entire mug. The additional ink spots on the plain blue background add depth and character to the mug. After playful experimentation with text placement, the client opted for a sleek center-aligned "Squidly Store."
